Discovery Pier
This week’s Vancouver Island Vision takes us to Discovery Pier in downtown Campbell River. The Pier was the first saltwater fishing pier in Canada. With 150 ft. offshore, and 600 ft long, the pier offers unobstructed views of discovery passage and Quadra Island. Discovery Pier hosts a great place for fishing not only for locals, but tourists as well. Should you be visiting town and are without a rod, you can rent one along with tackle! The Pier offers rod holders, bait stands, cleaning tables, covered seating areas, and more for all your fishing needs. During the summer months, staff run a leader board so be sure to get your name on there. The pier is an all-around afternoon stop as you can have lunch or dinner and finish off with their famous ice cream cones. If you’re looking to visit the pier, you will find it located in downtown Campbell River sharing a parking lot with Maritime Heritage Centre and Discovery Passage Aquarium.
