Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if you're not in my local market?
Your sponsor at eXp doesn't have to be local or even in the same country as you. Your sponsor and broker are distinct entities (in most cases). Each state or province has its designated broker under whom you'll be licensed to conduct business. Your sponsor, on the other hand, is the person who influenced your decision to join eXp Realty and whom you believe will best support your goals.
2. What does it cost to join eXp Realty?
For Canadian agents: You have a $199 startup fee and a $139 monthly fee. You begin on an 80/20 split, capping at $16,000, then transition to a 100% split with a $285 transaction fee. After $5,700 in capped transaction fees, it's $75 per transaction. Additionally, there's a $29 broker review fee and a $17 risk management fee, capping at $200 for the year.
For US agents: There's a $149 startup fee and a monthly fee of $85. Agents start on an 80/20 split until they reach a cap of $16,000, at which point they move to a 100% split for the rest of their anniversary year, minus a $250 transaction fee. After reaching $5,000 in capped transaction fees, the fee becomes $75 per transaction. There's also a $25 broker review fee and a $40 risk management fee per transaction until it caps at $500 for the year.
Please note: If you're a new agent or haven't closed at least three transactions in the past 12 months, you'll need to join the eXpand Mentoring program. For your first three transactions with eXp Realty, you'll receive extra guidance and support from a certified mentor in your local market, with a 20% additional fee for these initial transactions (total split of 60/40). After these initial transactions, you'll move to the standard 80/20 split.
3. Where is my office?
All eXp agents gain access to over 1000 office locations globally. Plus, your office is wherever you have a computer, mobile device, and internet. Through eXp World and Workplace by Facebook, you'll connect with eXp's 500+ staff members who cover everything from transaction coordination and tech support to team services, brokerage operations, legal, and accounting. Support is available in real-time, anywhere in the world, with over 55 hours per week.
4. Is eXp Realty good for new agents?
From what I've observed, I would say a resounding YES! The question isn't so much about whether eXp is suitable for new agents; it's more about whether the new agent is inclined to fully utilize the tools and training provided by eXp Realty. With over 50 hours of live training every week and a comprehensive toolkit for generating leads and closing deals, eXp offers all the resources you need. Success in eXp's model hinges on your willingness to take the initiative while seeking advice and guidance as needed.
5. I have a team and/or other agents joining eXp with me. How should we structure our move?
