This week on Vancouver Island Vision, we are taking a tour of Nanaimo's history at The Bastion. This octagon-shaped blockhouse was built using the post-and-plank method. Built between 1853 and 1855 to defend its coal mining operations in Nanaimo its shape and high visibility has earned it the label of Nanaimo's Premier Landmark.
